Earning College Credit in High School

Students can earn college credit while still in high school through AP Courses, UVU Live Interactive Courses and Concurrent Enrollment courses.

Skyridge Concurrent Enrollment Courses are available through and Snow College, Utah Valley University, Utah State University, and Weber State University.

Strategies to Maximize College Credit in High School

AP Courses

Students receive credit based upon the score received on the AP exam taken at the conclusion of the course. Check the Transfer Credit Guide for each respective college to see what credits will be granted.

Concurrent Enrollment

College courses taught at Skyridge by Skyridge faculty. Courses are available through Snow College, UVU, USU, and Weber State. Students must apply to the respective universities in order to take these courses.

UVU Live Interactive Courses

Interactive college courses broadcast live from UVU to Skyridge. Students must apply to UVU in order to take these courses.

UVU Empowered Program

For all 9th through 11th grade students, the UVU Empowered (Summer Bridge) program offers the opportunity to earn college credit during a six-week summer program, June 26th – August 8th, 2025.

UVU Excelerate

Excelerate is an innovative, project-based summer program for high school seniors enrolling at UVU for Fall 2025.  The Excelerate summer program aims to support first-year students in exceling at the challenges of higher education by providing a tuition-free project-based course during Summer Block One (May 7 – June 25) or Summer Block Two (June 26 – August 8).

SUU Early College Online Program

For all 9th through 11th grade students. Southern Utah University’s ECO program allows students to take online college courses during the summer at a rate of $75 per credit, which is slightly higher than the Concurrent Enrollment (CE) program rate of $5 per credit during the school year.

UofU HUSP

The University of Utah High School University program is designed for motivated students to enhance their high school curriculum and get a head start on a college career.

  • Seniors: 3.2 GPA or higher
  • Juniors: 3.5 GPA or higher
  • Sophomores: 3.7 GPA or higher

Registration

HSUP students may participate in any 1000- or 2000-level course, as long as they meet the prerequisite requirements.

GCU Dual Enrollment Program

  • High school sophomores – 3.25 GPA or above
  • High school juniors and seniors – 3.0 GPA or above.

Registration 

Grand Canyon University’s Dual Enrollment program allows students to take online college courses at a rate of $52.50 per credit.
